GuttaScope — Free Website & Image Color Picker

GuttaScope picks colors from any website or image. Enter a URL or upload an image, click any pixel, and copy the HEX, RGB and HSL codes instantly. Built for designers, developers and SEOs who need exact brand colors.

Why use GuttaScope?

Brand colors hide in screenshots and live sites. GuttaScope reads the exact pixel value instead of guessing from a screenshot, so the color you ship is the color the brand actually uses. No more eyeballing a screenshot and hoping the hex code is close.

What it can do

Live website screenshots

Paste any public website URL and GuttaScope captures a live screenshot you can pick colors from. It tries three capture services in a row automatically, so if one fails the next one takes over.

10× magnifier loupe

Hover the image to zoom in up to 10× with a crosshair and a highlighted box around the exact pixel. Click once to lock the color — no more picking the pixel next to the one you wanted.

HEX, RGB and HSL in one click

Every picked color shows its HEX, RGB and HSL values side by side, each with its own Copy button. Semi-transparent pixels are composited onto white so the value you copy is the value you see.

Nine color variations

From any picked color the tool computes nine harmonies instantly: complement, two triadic, two analogous, two shades and two tints. Click any swatch to copy its HEX.

Palette and CSS variables

Locked colors are saved as a clickable palette you can build up as you work. One click copies the whole palette as a :root block of CSS variables, ready to paste into your stylesheet.

Upload any way you like

Drag and drop an image, click to browse, paste one straight from your clipboard with Ctrl+V, or load it from a direct image URL. JPG, PNG, WEBP, GIF, BMP, AVIF and SVG are all supported — and uploads never leave your browser.

How to use it

  1. Pick a tab: Website URL for a live screenshot, Image URL for a direct image link, or Upload Image for a file from your device.
  2. Wait for the screenshot or image to load. Zoom from 50% to 400% if you need a closer look.
  3. Hover with the 10× magnifier to find the exact pixel, then click to lock the color.
  4. Copy the HEX, RGB or HSL value, or grab one of the nine computed variations.
  5. Lock more colors into your palette, then copy the whole palette as CSS variables for your project.

Who is it for?

Built for web designers, developers, SEOs and brand builders who need exact colors from live websites, client screenshots and images — anyone who has ever tried to guess a brand color from a screenshot and got it wrong.

Good to know

Website capture uses free third-party screenshot services, so if a site blocks screenshots the capture can fail — take a screenshot yourself and use the Upload tab instead. Images are downscaled to 2400px on the longest side before picking, and uploaded files are processed locally in your browser.

Frequently asked questions

Does it work on any website?

Any public website URL works — the tool captures a live screenshot and lets you pick from every pixel. If a site blocks screenshots, take a screenshot on your device and use the Upload tab instead.

What formats can I copy?

HEX, RGB and HSL for any picked color, each with its own copy button — plus the whole locked palette as a :root block of CSS variables, ready for your stylesheet.

What are the nine color variations?

Harmonies computed from your picked color: the complement (opposite on the color wheel), two triadic colors, two analogous colors, two darker shades and two lighter tints. Click any swatch to copy its HEX.

Is my uploaded image sent to a server?

No. Uploaded images are read locally in your browser and never leave your device. Only the Website URL tab contacts outside screenshot services.

Which image types are supported?

JPG, PNG, WEBP, GIF, BMP, AVIF and SVG. Images are downscaled to a maximum of 2400px on the longest side before color picking.

Is GuttaScope really free?

Yes — free forever, no signup, no watermark. It also has a built-in demo palette so you can try the magnifier and variations without loading anything.
